TikTok is all about being disruptive.
Mainstream videos and ideas don't do well. If you want to succeed, you need to release your crazy side when creating content.
Users love to see crazy skits, challenges, feats that involve skill such as gymnastic movements or stunts, funny performances, and much more.
The fact is, young people make up 41% of the TikTok user base. And young people don't like mainstream.
They like to see out-of-the-box, funny videos.
A quick look at the trending page on TikTok makes it very clear what type of content does well.
With over 60 million views at the time of writing, it's pretty clear that silly, fun content is the way to succeed.
Posting videos on TikTok is easy.
Just head to the app and tap the plus sign at the bottom of the screen.
When you are on the recording screen, you can either record a fresh video directly in the app.
Alternatively, tap the>Uploadbutton in the bottom-right and you'll be able to upload content straight from your gallery.
Remember, each video can only be 15 seconds long, so its always worth planning out your video before you record to make sure you hit everything you planned.
TikTok also has a load of AR effects to help give your video some extra juice. Simply tap effects in the lower left of the screen to browse through all of the ffects.
There are a load to choose from, such as changing the color of your hair and eyes.
Adding music to your TikTok is easy. Just tap>Add a Soundon the right of the recording screen.
A menu of artists and songs will show, allowing you to browse to find a track that matches your video.
Remember these won't be full songs but will just be short clips, in line with the whole point of TikTok being about short form video content.
Some users just play music in the background whilst they're recording and use the recorded sound for the TikTok.
However we don't recommend doing this because you might get into trouble with copyright, and as a worst case scenario your account could get banned.
Hashtags are great to get your account noticed.
When people search TikTok for content, hashtags help the app to know what content to show.
For example, if you post a lot of content with the hashtag>#puppy, when people search>puppyyour content is more likely to appear.
When choosing hashtags, the best advice is to keep it natural. What hashtags actually fit the video you are posting?
If you're really stuck for hashtags, we always recommend using a guide of top 10 hashtagsto help you out.
That's it! You now know what to do to create amazing TikTok content and grow your account.
You've added a bright and wonderful layer to your "Social Media Skillset" rainbow cake!
So turn on your camera and get recording!
